ConnectivHealth Acquires
Relegent
Acquisition Includes
HealthTeacher and Discovery Hospital Products
Nashville, TN - (June 26, 2007) – ConnectivHealth
today announced it has acquired Relegent, a Nashville, Tenn.-based
provider of health care information to the hospital and education
industries. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We are excited to have Tod Fetherling and the Relegent family
join ConnectivHealth," said Scott McQuigg, president and CEO.
"HealthTeacher and Discovery Hospital are well-respected brands
in health information and significantly strengthen our capabilities
to deliver a wider continuum of health information to physicians,
schools, and hospitals. Tod's decade of experience in online health
information and his health care marketing acumen adds tremendous
value to the ConnectivHealth leadership team," he added.
"Health and education are the two fastest growing segments
of the GDP, totaling approximately 22 percent of total expenditures,"
said J. Tod Fetherling, President of Relegent. "By joining
ConnectivHealth, we strengthen our focus on health education for
schools and hospitals, which must become a key priority for our
society over the next several decades. We have found direct correlations
between health education and improved health outcomes."
As Chief Product Officer of ConnectivHealth, Fetherling will work
with the combined company's customers and business partners, as
well as industry leaders to continue to ensure that ConnectivHealth
products empower consumers and health care providers to improve
health and well-being.
HealthTeacher delivers K-12 health curriculum online, including
lesson plans and related materials to more than 7,000 schools in
more than 60 countries. HealthTeacher was built on the National
Health Education Standards and is backed by more than nine years
of high-quality work and commitment to teachers and students. Discovery
Hospital is a long-standing partnership with Discovery Communications
Inc., which delivers health content to consumers via more than 150
hospital websites. The Discovery Health Channel is also a Discovery
Communications brand. Additionally, the acquisition includes Relegent's
interest in Planning 2.0, which provides market planning software
and consulting to the health care industry.
