A Strong Half for Texas Startups

Recently, the MoneyTree Report released venture capital investment data through the first half of 2013.  Looking at the amount invested and the number of deals, here’s how Texas ranked nationally.

Venture investment in Texas-based companies increased from the previous six months (2H12) when 74 companies received $345 million.  Startups in the state also saw an increase in investment compared to this time last year (1H12) when $590 million was invested in 85 Texas companies.

Texas continues to be an attractive place for entrepreneurs to build companies, attracting nearly 6% of the venture dollars invested nationally during the first half of 2013.
