The high cost of postsecondary education prevents many adults from pursuing a degree. However, a growing number of organizations are seeking to make higher education more affordable.

This week, Regent Education announced the launch of a program that will help prospective students determine the cost of a college program. According to a press release, the company partnered with StraighterLine – a provider of online education – to create Regent SNAP, which provides degree seekers with real-time answers to questions about college costs.

“In today’s marketplace, answering questions about available financial aid in real-time can transform initial interest into actual enrollment,” said Randy Jones, CEO of Regent Education. “Our solution offers students a meaningful answer in about 15 minutes or less-compared to current turnaround times of days or even weeks.”

Straighterline,

Sallie Mae – a provider of student loans – reports that more than $168 billion in financial aid was available during the 2008-2009 academic year.
